PRECISION LAB TESTING &

DIAGNOSTICS

Unlock actionable biological insights with comprehensive hormone, metabolic, and wellness panels. Transparent upfront pricing, zero doctor referral needed, and rapid clinician review.

Healthcare Without the Hidden Lab Bills and Insurance Headaches

Navigating conventional laboratory testing is notoriously frustrating. Under typical insurance billing structures, a routine comprehensive blood panel easily triggers hospital facility fees, third-party lab billing, and unexpected deductibles that can surpass $1,000 to $2,500 for a single draw.

Even worse, uninsured or out-of-network cash prices charged by legacy diagnostic chains are often arbitrarily inflated, leaving patients anxious about hidden costs long after their blood has been drawn.

At Peak Medical, we engineered a completely different model: 100% transparent, self-pay pricing with pre-negotiated direct laboratory partnerships. You get CLIA-certified medical accuracy, full data ownership, and physician-reviewed clarity at a fraction of standard hospital rates.

Frequently Asked Questions

Clear answers regarding testing, insurance, fasting, and scheduling.

General Health, Metabolic & Cardiovascular

Complete Blood Count (CBC)

  • What it measures: The quantity and quality of your red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets.
  • Why it is checked: To screen for a wide range of conditions including anemia, infection, inflammation, and general immune system health.

Metabolic Panel (14) (Often called a Comprehensive Metabolic Panel or CMP)

  • What it measures: 14 different substances in your blood, including glucose, calcium, electrolytes (like sodium and potassium), and specific proteins and enzymes.
  • Why it is checked: To evaluate your overall metabolism, kidney function, liver health, and fluid/electrolyte balance.

HbA1c (Hemoglobin A1c)

  • What it measures: The percentage of your red blood cells that have sugar-coated hemoglobin, providing an average of your blood sugar levels over the past 2 to 3 months.
  • Why it is checked: To screen for, diagnose, or monitor prediabetes and diabetes.

Lipid Panel

  • What it measures: Different types of fat in your blood, including Total Cholesterol, LDL (bad cholesterol), HDL (good cholesterol), and Triglycerides.
  • Why it is checked: To assess cardiovascular health and determine your risk for heart disease or stroke.

Vitamins & Nutritional Health

25-Hydroxy Vitamin D (D2+D3)

  • What it measures: The most accurate indicator of vitamin D levels in your body (combining both D2 from plants/fortified foods and D3 from sun exposure/animal products).
  • Why it is checked: To identify deficiencies that can cause fatigue, weakened immunity, poor bone density, and mood changes.

Vitamin B12

  • What it measures: The amount of B12 circulating in your blood.
  • Why it is checked: To ensure healthy nerve function and DNA production. Deficiencies can lead to anemia, chronic fatigue, brain fog, and neurological issues.

Thyroid Function

TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone)

  • What it measures: A pituitary gland hormone that signals your thyroid to produce its own hormones.
  • Why it is checked: It is the primary screening test for thyroid disorders; high levels indicate an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism), and low levels indicate an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism).

Free T4 (Thyroxine)

  • What it measures: The active, unbound form of the primary hormone produced directly by the thyroid gland.
  • Why it is checked: To confirm a thyroid diagnosis and see how much active hormone is actually available for your body’s tissues to use.

Free T3 (Triiodothyronine)

  • What it measures: The active, unbound form of the more potent thyroid hormone (mostly converted from T4 in the liver).
  • Why it is checked: To help diagnose hyperthyroidism or identify issues where the body is struggling to convert T4 into the more active T3.

Sex & Reproductive Hormones

Estradiol

  • What it measures: The most potent and abundant form of estrogen in the body.
  • Why it is checked: In women, it is monitored to evaluate ovarian function, fertility, and menopause transitions. In men, a healthy testosterone-to-estradiol ratio is essential for maintaining bone density, joint health, and a healthy sex drive. For both sexes, balanced estradiol protects brain and cardiovascular health.

Progesterone

  • What it measures: A steroid hormone that plays a key role in reproduction and central nervous system support.
  • Why it is checked: In women, it regulates the menstrual cycle and supports early pregnancy. In men, it acts as a precursor to testosterone. For both men and women, optimal progesterone levels promote healthy sleep, reduce anxiety, and support overall brain health.

FSH (Follicle-Stimulating Hormone)

  • What it measures: A pituitary hormone that controls the reproductive organs.
  • Why it is checked: In women, it regulates egg development and helps evaluate fertility or predict the onset of menopause. In men, it controls sperm production and helps diagnose causes of infertility or low testosterone.

Testosterone, Total & Free

  • What it measures: Total testosterone measures all the hormone in the blood. Free testosterone measures only the active, unbound portion that your body can readily use.
  • Why it is checked: In men, it evaluates symptoms like low libido, muscle loss, and chronic fatigue. In women, healthy testosterone levels are required to maintain bone density, muscle mass, and sex drive, while abnormally high levels can help diagnose conditions like Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS).

Adrenal & Stress Hormones

Cortisol AM

  • What it measures: The body’s primary stress hormone, drawn in the morning when it should naturally be at its highest peak.
  • Why it is checked: To evaluate how the adrenal glands are functioning and to assess chronic stress, adrenal fatigue, or deeper glandular disorders.

DHEA Sulfate (DHEA-S)

  • What it measures: A precursor hormone produced by the adrenal glands, which the body eventually converts into active testosterone and estrogen.
  • Why it is checked: To evaluate overall adrenal function and vitality. For both men and women, optimal levels support energy, immune function, and muscle maintenance. Imbalances can point to chronic stress or cause hormonal issues (like excess androgen symptoms in women).

That depends on the types of tests you need. Common tests that require fasting include fasting blood glucose, lipid panel/triglycerides, a basic or comprehensive metabolic panel, fasting insulin/C-peptide and certain nutrient or hormone tests. We will let you know in advance if you need to fast but it’s often best to assume that’s the case and plan accordingly.

No referral is needed although if you have a lab order, we can also support your lab needs. Peak Medical operates a direct-access laboratory service overseen by our certified clinicians. You can order individual tests, custom packages, bundled packages or our full draw consultation directly or with a lab order.
